You need creative agencies in Singapore to help you in planning how to present your brand to the audience. However, the line between a creative agency, branding agency, and advertising agency in Singapore is easily blurred. Creative agencies in Singapore offer a variety of services that can be categorised into four groups:
- Strategy
- Design
- Technology
- Advertising
The strategy represents the consulting, research, and planning activities. The design represents the visual, UX, video, and photography services. Technology represents engineering, systems, and data services. Advertising represents the promotional, marketing, and PR services.
Not all creative agencies can deliver exceptional results. In this article, we present to you an unbiased review of the top creative agencies in Singapore.

What Makes a Good Designer?
While it’s still a common practice for technological products to come with instructions, it’s still expected that these products are intuitive enough to operate without necessarily relying on these instructions. Users have to figure them out straight out of the box without having to dig into manuals for how-to guidelines.
It’s the UX designer’s job to make these products simple enough to unravel at first glance. It’s their job to analyse, optimise, and reduce the gap that people experience when interacting with a machine.
It’s also part of the UX designer’s job to try and make everything as logical, intuitive, pleasing, and seamless as it’s humanly possible.
So what makes a Good Designer?
An Impressive Portfolio
There’s enough logic on this – among the first things that you’d want to look at when hiring a UX designer is their portfolio.
There’s no way you’re hiring an agency without an impressive portfolio. They must be prepared to show you astonishing mockups, nice layouts, great photography, and so on.
If you’re impressed by all this, that’s a good sign that the designer has a good aesthetic taste. But that’s just on the surface level, and which is only limited to a visual designer.
Where you’re hiring a UX designer, you have to go deeper than that by looking into the reality of the projects. Here’s a list of questions that you might want to ask for this:
- What exactly did you do in this project?
- Is the project real – like live and visible? Or is it a prototype? If it’s working, then I can try it and leave my comment behind.
- If the project is real as you claim, do you mind giving me some KPI’s?
Doesn’t Design for the Client
A good designer isn’t one that designs to impress clients, but one that designs with the end-user in mind.
The designer spends their time trying to understand the product that their client wants and, most importantly, the market they’re targeting. They’ll then try to find a balance between the two before getting down to work.
But even with this, what the user wants still takes precedence. Good designing isn’t about raking awards and making profits, it’s about making the lives of the individuals on the ground easy.
Opinions formed by professionals have their part to play, but at no time is your focus supposed to shift away from the user.
Curious and Always Learning
Designers have a passion for learning. They’re always curious about what’s happening around them or if there’s any way they can make the lives of the people they interact with better.
A good designer should be able to make you feel at home. It’s even better when you’re able to connect with them. You have to feel like you’ve finally found someone who understands you.
A good designer will always be learning and riffing. Plus, they know how to strike a balance between short and long work. They understand the power that exists in maintaining a cohesive team. So expect them to be always supporting their team.
Lastly, a good designer is always partnering with people from other disciplines. And most importantly, they’ve learned not to take themselves too seriously.
Strong Work Ethic
Professionalism is of utmost importance in designing. Come to think about it, solving user problems is pretty tough in itself.
There’s a lot of groundwork to be done. That should be followed by a great amount of testing and calibrations before you’re finally able to achieve something writing home about.
You have to develop a thick skin and learn to persevere to be able to pull this off.
Creative agencies in Singapore are outdoing each other by improving on the quality of their creative services as well as adding extra services that span advertising, marketing, advertising, and more. We hope that the above list will help you in choosing between the marketing companies in Singapore for your brand.
Top Advertising Agencies in Singapore
Taking your business to another level of success comes with deep investments in advertising. But which are the best advertising agencies in Singapore? And how do you go about the selection of which agency to deal with when you are an investor in Singapore? Most of the businesses that have fallen in their performances are as a result of employing poor advertising agencies.
In Singapore, it is tough to rate advertising agencies and digital agencies because of its a very competitive industry and the creativity and success of advertising campaigns in Singapore is subjective. It is even hard to choose which firm if you have a product to be advertised.
One reason why you may end up with unreliable advertising agencies is their high numbers in the market. As a result, we have decided to make you a selection of the top 16 best advertising agencies in Singapore. This article has not been sponsored by any of the agencies making it genuine and unbiased. In case you are looking to hire an advertising agency, consider one of the following.

How To Manage Your Advertising Agency In Singapore
Online marketing is a huge investment for small and big investors and has had tremendous growth especially in Singapore. Statistics in Singapore revealed that about fifty-five percent of the population accessing the internet use their devices to search or purchase products. Business development ‘requires a vast advertisement investment to keep it competitive in online marketing.
In that case, most of the businesses downfall is as a result of poor advertising agencies. Marketing advertising agencies have risen to help business companies accomplish their online digital marketing goals. It is tough to manage the advertising agency for your business or rate the advertising agencies of this competitive industry in Singapore. This article looks at how to manage your marketing advertising agency and help business companies sell their business brand to the demographic market.
There should be a cross-team collaboration between your agency partners and yourself or integration with other agency partners. Face to face meeting with your ad agency team helps in effective management of your agency service. You are investing your business in the agency services; you should hence make a lasting relationship for many years to come.
The agency becomes integrated into your business advertising team resulting in the best advertising agency. When the advertising projects start, things get busy making it difficult for face to face meetings. You should sacrifice to pay the cost involved to meet the advertising team individually as it has a significant impact on the advertising campaign. Hold meetings with the different individual agency departments on a regular basis to establish any issues or problems. MediaOne advertising agent ensures a close relationship with its clients and is the top best company in Singapore.
One of the key points to look into while managing your advertising agency is the marketing budget management. The budgets should be built on a perfect, reliable and straightforward platform between you and your advertising firm. You should ensure ideal expenditure and budget allocation for all your advertising projects. Unexpected expenses and cost overruns are not suitable for your advertising agency.
Ensure that all the right decisions are made by both parties in an advertising agency to prevent work stoppages. You should have a dialogue with your advertising agency on how to fund for their full-service. A focus on the ROI (return on investment) is essential in tracking where your advertising agency budget is going. Proper budget management is the key to a prosperous relationship with your advertising agency.
A creative project brief is required for effective execution by your advertising agency. You should have well aligned strategic objectives and niche tactics for your advertising project. A creative brief involves documenting the project scope, goals and all deliverables.
A creative brief gives details on the target audience, their current beliefs, what you want them to believe and why they should believe in it. You should ensure your advertising agency contributes to the strategic planning and give it time for iteration. This will allow the full input of all the agency workers in the organization.
Defining your metrics helps get the best out of an advertising agency. You invest in knowing who the agency is and the level of their work efficiency. In your advertising project, you should include the metrics you will use to determine success or accomplishment of the project.
The set metrics should be as a result of proven data. Your agency will put all their efforts in trying to outdo your set metrics and work towards solidifying them. It is important to note that if you don’t know your metrics, neither your ad agency will provide them for you.
Information is power. Staying updated on the latest information about the advertising industry will help you manage your ad agency effectively. You should sign up for regular news that has news and trends information about the advertising industry and advertising agency management.
Having proper education and knowledge is all you require to manage your agency. Encouraging the agency staff to pursue further advertising education within the industry continuously expands on their skills. You can also attend digital online advertising seminars to help manage your agency.
Management of an advertisement agency is complex. The main reason for its complexity is the constant change in the marketing landscape. As a marketing manager, you should prioritise keeping pace with the changing strategies in the advertisement marketing.
In these terms, your ad agency to customer relationship is essential to marketing success. Your advertising agency relationship is to be nurtured as it is equal to financial investment. This boosts the effectiveness of external and internal teams across your advertising projects.
Trusting your agency service opinion is vital in making the management easy. You should b a constructive team player rather than questioning all the judgments made by the agency. Your input as a client is precious in helping to manage the ad agency to greater heights.
In case of trust issues between you and your company, you should express your concerns and doubts about the restoration of trust. Manage your advertising agency the same way you manage your employees in the business. You have to trust them to maximise their potential. Have the same considerations for your marketing agency.
The hiring process of an advertising agency requires a keen study of its various aspects. Many of he people hire the wrong agencies due to the superior proposal and flashy suits that owe them. Asking the right questions is the first step in managing your agency.
Some of the questions you should not leave out include the agency integration with your teams’ culture, are they trustworthy, how was their last client relationship and whether you can call their references. This hiring process should be slow and professional. You get to win in the end after correct vetting, and your agency performs in the advertising competition. MediaOne is an example of an advertising agency that offers full-service and will undoubtedly deliver for your business needs.
In conclusion, Singapore is a ready market for any international or home-based company or entrepreneurs dealing with digital advertising internet marketing. It has plenty of opportunities in making your company known. All that is left is taking the first step and establish your marketing advertising agency.
Online advertisement is at a higher level in Singapore. The government of Singapore has put in place online marketing policy contained in the Singapore code of advertising practice to govern the advertising agencies. All the advertisements made should be decent, honest and legal.
What To Look Out For When Engaging An Agency In Singapore
Engaging an agency in Singapore is a huge step and investment, with many of the companies in the country offering different advertising packages at tempting prices.
The market itself is fairly saturated, and business owners and marketers are wising up to the risk of settling for an agency that claims to be a jack-of-all-traders. Some of the clients have even filed complaints on the agencies that over-promise but under-deliver.
Bait and switch is another common tactic incompetent agencies use to lure in starry-eyed clients. They’ll simply offer low bids, but immediately after signing a contract, start pressuring the clients to top up on their initial payment to receive even the most basic of the services they had bargained for.
Agencies are NOT safe either. With rampant cases of agencies filing cases on some of their clients stealing their ideas, it’s safe to say that the advertising industry in Singapore is as messy as it can get.
It’s however worth noting that NOT all creative agencies in the country are rotten. If anything, every creative agency on this list is at core trustworthy and it’s all for a number of good reasons.
First it’s because every single one of them have been in the business of advertising long enough without sullying their reputation. Clients trust them, and they’re among the few agencies that put professionalism over everything else.
In other words, these companies don’t just pitch and bolt out on you. Instead, they all believe in strengthening the relationship they have with the clients they serve, in the hopes that they’ll all be working towards building a co-existing ecosystem that thrives through referrals and clients advocacy.
The Million Dollar Question
Now that you have a narrowed list of the agencies you can completely trust, how do you sift them through to choose that one company you can be sure will be giving you the most bang for your money, while leaving you with a peace of mind?
This post draws some light on the state of advertising agencies in the country. It’s basically aimed to help you make the most educated choice when deciding on the agency to entrust with your marketing needs.
The whole point of this guide is to make sure that you find that one marketing agency that at the end of the day guarantees you the best returns on your investment, without putting you at unnecessary risk or pressure.
That being said, here are some quick primers to help you choose the right advertising agency for your business.
Leverage Google
Google should be the educated friend you turn to for advice whenever you’re stuck. An agency can lie about itself, but somewhere along the hallowed walls of Google, there lies a piece of information that speaks nothing but the truth.
If at any point the agency under-delivered on a service a client requested for, then you can be sure it’s listed somewhere on the web, either as a review or in a comment section as a way to warn other clients.
To be on the safe side, you can start by finding out the core competencies of individual agencies. What are their strengths? Do they have any prior advertising experience or will they be experimenting with your business?
Google has a chockfull of recommendations, and it’s just a matter of you scouring the internet to dig out the right information.
Needless to say, before you even think of doing your own due diligence, to do yourself a favour by checking out if the agency has a fully functional web portal, instagram page, twitter account, and Facebook page to name a few.
If the agencies is only found on TheGreebBook or Yellow pages, then take that as a warning that they cannot be trusted.
Another Red-flag
Be extra wary of any agency that has a one-size-fits-all kind of approach to every problem. If the agency is NOT willing to analyse the current situation of your business, and come up with a customised advertising solution for it, then that goes to show that they’re only interested in what’s in your pocket.
A good agency is one that delivers consistently. Their reputation takes precedence, considering they thrive on referrals and recommendations.
So the first thing you might want to find out is how the company plans to gain the much-needed knowledge about your business. You want to find out what approach does the company use to dig out for more info concerning your sales goals and field of work.
And while at it, it’s also important to watch out for agencies that only operate in one particular industry or field of work. For all we know, they might be harbouring conflicting interests with another company you’re in competition with.
And in the event that you decide to throw all caution to the wind, do yourself a favour by inquiring about how the company plans to resolve the issue of conflicting interests. After all the whole reason you’re paying the agency is to gain a competitive edge over rivalling companies.
Will the company be favouring one business over the other — because at the end of the day, only one of the companies will be emerging the winner?
Does the Agency Know What’s What?
The world of marketing and advertising keeps changing. Facebook keeps updating their algorithms, and so is Instagram, twitter, and other social media channels. The same can be said about Google and other search engines.
Meaning, a competent agency must have a proper game-plan that they use to learn about the industry true facts and gather fundamental information on what’s working and NOT working every step of their marketing journey.
The learning curve stretches far beyond social media platforms. For all we know, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and natural language processing are all integrated in online advertising — and since they all keep on improving all the time, it makes more sense for an agency to be updated on what’s new on a more advanced level to understand some of the marketing drills.
SEO is NOT an exception in this. Among the recent developments in the field of SEO there’s screenless SEO, which is basically SEO in spoken form, and which is significantly changing the general landscape of content marketing.
This is an urgent call for any advertising agency out there to rethink their marketing strategies and calibrate them where necessary to match the tide or be rendered incompetent.
A trusted agency won’t just be interested in driving business. But in staying abreast of all the hot topics and topics within the industry. They’ll also have a blog section that they’ll be constantly updating and which is aimed at educating their online following.
So before you rush into choosing any agency, do yourself a favour and find out if the agency has established some sort of authority in the industry. Do they give out useful information regarding the industry or offer direction on what’s regarded the right course of action marketers can take depending on the time?
A Broad Range of Skill set
For a creative agency to effectively deliver on their promise, they must be multifaceted. They should have a broad range of skill set that covers every aspect of their digital marketing process.
Meaning, should it turn out that your site’s SEO is affected at code level, they should have the skill set to work it out on their own instead of using it as an excuse for their incompetency.
A good advertising agency operates with a team of a talented workforce that includes web developers, graphics designers, web designers, PR specialists, content developers, copy writers, and so forth.
Don’t get it twisted — a well rounded creative agency doesn’t whip up one-size-fits-all solutions. Rather, they have the required skill set and technical expertise to tackle an underlying problem from all angles.
The motley blend of different marketing professionals helps to analyse your marketing effort from every possible angle, so the agency can come up with a working strategy to drive in more traffic and ramp up sales.
The Cost Involved
The cheapest agency in NOT the best option. But that’s NOT to say that you should settle for the most expensive option you find.
The only surefire tactic to choosing the right agency is doing your own due diligence. In which case, a good agency should be one that offers the highest value for your money or one that will be spending your marketing money more wisely instead of splurging it on unnecessary ads and overcharging you for some of the services rendered.
The agency you choose won’t of course be spending every single one of the pennies you invest with them. For what we know, some of the money have to go to buying ads, sending promotional emails, and buying content.
However, what’s important is for the agency to ensure its team offers the highest value for your money.
If anything, there’s no point in hiring an advertising agency if they cannot guarantee you a wise spending of your hard-earned cash. If they’re spending your cash on content, then you might want to make sure that the content you receive is quality enough.
Suffice it to say a good strategy will go a long way to help you cut on your ad spending by nearly a half.
The days when online advertising only meant visiting a few online platforms and making a few clicks for an educated guess of what to do are now in the past. Nowadays, in order to make the most out of the marketing campaign you’re running, then you must be prepared to think like search engines and social media algorithms.
You need to keep track of the results you’re getting every step of the way, while keeping reports, and bench-marking where necessary as you force your way towards the goals you’ve set for your business.
So if the agency isn’t willing to explain to you plainly, in a clear and coincide manner, how the different pieces fit into each other, and what to expect at the end of it all, then you’re better off trying out a different agency.
The Red Flags to Watch For
Red flags warn you of the impending dangers. They’re what you use to vet out some of the agencies and narrow down your list.
So how do you tell if investing with a particular ad agency is a risk in the offing or pure waste of your hard earned marketing money.
They have an all-encompassing social media marketing strategy:
Instead of coming up with a marketing strategy that encapsulates all social media channels, a competent agency should be more specific with how they’re planning to take advantage of a particular social network.
That’s to say their social media strategy should be more focused and targeted. Instead of picking a random social network, the agency should also be able to point out a number of reasons a particular network is more suited with your kind of business.
For instance, if you’re operating an industrial shipping company, then maybe the company should be able to walk you through all the details as to why instagram is NOT suited for launching your social media campaign.
The same cannot be said about a real estate developer or agent that wish to showcase their properties or if you’re setting up an online shop and are looking for the most suitable platform to display the products you’re offering.
When their Promise is too Good to be True
A good agency is always slow on promises and quick on breaking down the process involved in getting something done.
They’ll NOT be making empty guarantees or overselling their services in a bid to get you to invest with them.
If anything, they understand that the trickiest part of running any marketing campaign is executing the laid strategy more effectively. They know that it takes a lot of time, work, and dedication to pull anything off. Plus there will be a lot of calibrations and adjustments along the way to leave any room for guarantees.
So instead of promising on the results they’re NOT sure of, a competent agency will be promising on getting the work done. They’ll have a strategy, but they’ll leave some room for doubt just in case some things fail to flow according to plan.
For which case, you have to begin by understanding that a good agency has the capacity to push you to the first page or even the first position in Google and other search engine. But this claim comes with no guarantees. So should any agency guarantee you that, then take it as a red flag and run for the hills.
Unreasonable Pricing
Advertising is not cheap. There’s a whole lot to invest in in any successful online marketing campaign, and nothing about it is cheap. Good content developers charge exorbitantly, and so are the developers involved and the PPC cost and everything else.
So in other words, if the price that an agency is asking for is way below than what’s considered standard, then that’s another reason to consider checking out a different agency.
How to Set Up a Successful Google Ads Campaign in Singapore
Although you can get a substantial number of visitors using organic methods, paid ads are a more effective way of driving traffic to your website. The most significant challenge to marketers in Singapore is that competing businesses use similar keywords, making it difficult to stand out. Even if you invest in a paid ads platform such as Google Ads, you need to implement smart strategies to ensure that your target audience notices you.
The following are the steps you need to follow to create a successful Google Ads campaign.
Create a Google Ads Account
The first step involves visiting the Google Ads website and creating an account. The registration process is as straightforward as creating a regular email account. However, you need to provide your financial credentials so that Google can charge you for every click on your ad listings. After finishing this process, make sure that you click on the ‘Create Your First Campaign’ button.
Choose a Campaign Type
Most marketers usually start with ‘Search Network Only’ because it is simple to beginners. While this is advisable, you should change to other options once you learn more about the platform. Make sure that you allocate a name to your campaign to enable you to monitor it more effectively. Also, choose a naming system and stick to it to avoid confusion a few months into the campaign.
Define Your Target Location
One of the most critical aspects of an ad campaign is defining your target location. Even if you have an e-commerce store, it is essential to focus your efforts on the geographical area where the majority of your customers live. If you do not have this information, consult the buyer personas that you created when launching your digital marketing strategy. The objective of this is to avoid wastage of time on resources on people who are unlikely to show interest in your products.
It is also advisable to prepare your website from the influx of new visitors as a result of your ads campaign. You do not want a situation where people are unable to navigate your site because it is overwhelmed.
Set Your Ad Budget
It can be quite challenging to set your budget – you need enough money to finance the ads campaign, but you also need to avoid breaking the bank. Google Ads allows you to set the cost of each click manually, meaning that you have control over your expenses. The amount you allocate determines the duration for which your ads will be visible.
As you become familiar with the ads platform, you can turn on automatic settings. If you are experienced, you can apply for a Google credit line. Always remember that a paid ads campaign can drain your marketing campaign you are not careful.
Create Your Copy
Writing the advert is perhaps the most critical element of your Google Ads campaign. Your choice of words has a massive impact on the reader’s decision – they can either decide to click on the as or not. As much as you want to increase your website traffic, your copy should also entice them to convert into customers. Keep in mind that you pay Google for every click, so the only way to profit is by converting your traffic into buying clients.
An effective ad must start with an attention-grabbing headline that has keywords that are relevant to your target audience. According to Google, the headline in your advertisement cannot exceed 90 characters. Ensure that you make the most of the limited space. You can use abbreviations or shorter synonyms if the words in your copy go beyond the limit mentioned above.
The second and third lines are also limited to 90 characters. They should inform your audience on how you intend to solve their problems, as well as describe the standout features of your solution. That said, you should be flexible enough to implement changes if you notice that your advert is not getting clicks on Google.
Add Your Display URL
A typical ad listing usually has several URLs. However, the most crucial of the lot is the display URL, and you should make it noticeable to your target audience. Ideally, it should be the link to your landing page or any other webpage that you want your traffic to visit.
Add Your Destination URL
It is not advisable to include a link that directs users to your homepage in your advert. Instead, it should lead them to a landing page focused on a particular product or service since the primary objective is to increase the conversion rate. If you direct your traffic to your homepage, they will have to search for the item they wanted. Your destination URL should always lead people to the product described in your ad; otherwise, you will pay for clicks without improving your conversion rates.
Integrate Your Keywords
It is essential to remember that your competitors will bid on similar keywords to you when creating their Google Ads campaigns. Make sure that research beforehand so that you integrate high-intent keywords in your ad copy. For instance, if you sell laptops, consider using “cheap laptops for sale.” By doing this, you risk missing out on people looking for standard laptops, but you will grab the attention of users searching for budget options.
Additionally, you can use negative keywords to make your ad campaign cost-effective. These tell Google Ads what you do not want your listing to show up for. Using the example above, you can tell Google to avoid displaying your ad if a user searches for cheap notebooks.
Bidding
Bidding is the final step of creating your Google Ads campaign. This is where you tell Google how much you will pay for each click on your ads. Since you bid on visibility, the more you spend, the more prominent your listing becomes on search results.
As mentioned earlier, the best way of ensuring that you do not overspend on paid ads is setting a budget. You should only top up if your initial campaign is productive. If not, make sure that you adjust your strategies before you reinvest.
Recheck Everything
Before launching your campaign, it is an excellent idea to confirm if everything is in order. Start by checking if the copy you used makes sense and is free of grammatical errors. Confirm that the bidding is manual to avoid unnecessary expense. Once you are sure that everything is alright, you can kick off your campaign.
Besides rechecking every element of your campaign, you should conduct A/B tests regularly. The findings from these tests should guide you when making adjustments to your adverts. While doing this, keep an eye on your conversion rates. You do not want to make changes that end up hurting your bottom line.
Types of Google Ads
Google offers a variety of options on their paid ads platform. The types of campaign you choose should be in line with your business goals. The adverts centre on the three Google Advertising Networks, the Google Search Network, the Google Display Network, and the YouTube Network.
Here are the different types of ad campaigns available on the Google Advertising Network.
- Search network campaigns
- Display network campaigns
- Shopping campaigns
- Video campaigns
- App campaigns
Search Network Campaigns
Search Network Ads are the ones that appear on Google search results and other search platforms when a user types in a query the keywords in your ad copy. The following are the types of ads that can appear on the search network.
- Call-only ads, Display Search ads and Text ads – these are the most prevalent kinds of ads and often an ‘Ad’ or ‘Ads’ label on search results pages. If on partner search sites, they can have an ‘Ads by Google’ label. They have ad extensions that enable advertiser’s to include details such as business name, location and operating hours.
- Shopping ads – these have images and links that direct searchers to product landing pages.
- Image and Video ads – these usually show on Google partner sites.
Display Network Campaigns
The Google Display Network has remarkable targeting features that allow marketers to deliver promotional messages to prospective customers at the right place and at the right time. It can assist you in reaching your target audience while they are browsing their favourite website, watching a YouTube video, using a mobile app, or reading their email.
Here are the types of ads that you can show on the display network.
- Responsive Display ads – these are the default form of advertisements in the display network, and they show as native ads. More importantly, Google optimises them for you to improve performance.
- Uploaded Image ads – these display various image sizes to your target audience. You can either upload the photos directly or using HTML5.
- Engagement ads – these are image and video adverts aimed at grabbing the attention of your audience.
- Gmail ads – these show as expandable ads at the top of the email inbox.
Shopping Campaigns
Shopping ads are an excellent way for promoting your business, increasing traffic to your online at physical stores, and finding qualified leads. In contrast to other formats, shopping ads are more visual. They show people photos of your products, their prices, and business details, and so on.
Here are three different kinds of shopping ads.
- Product Shopping ads – these are useful for promoting individual products in your inventory.
- Showcase Shopping ads – these display groups of related products in your store, allowing people to make comparisons.
- Local Catalog ads – these show the location of your business and are useful for directing people to your brick-and-mortar store.
Video Campaigns
Video campaigns allow you to show video ads either independently or alongside other video content on YouTube and across the Google Display Network.
The following are the five different formats of video ads.
- In-stream ads – these appear before, in-between, or after video content. The user has the option to skip the as after it runs for five seconds.
- Video Discovery ads – these are exclusively available on YouTube and mostly introduce new concepts to people. When a user clicks on a discovery ad thumbnail, it opens on its native YouTube channel.
- Outstream ads – these show on partner sites and are exclusively available to mobile and tablet users. They are useful for extending your reach beyond YouTube.
- Non-skippable In-stream ads – these are different from standard in-stream ads in that the user has to watch them to the end. For this reason, they usually last for a maximum of 15 seconds.
- Bumper ads – these are short clips intended for increasing brand awareness. They last for six seconds or less and are non-skippable.
App Campaigns
App campaigns are a useful method for increasing your mobile apps. Once you provide a description and screenshots of your app, Google will create an ad listing and publish it on Search, Google Play, YouTube, Google Discover, and the Google Display Network, and partner sites.
How Google Ads Work in Singapore
The key to a successful Google Ads campaign is knowing how the platform works. Here is a breakdown of how the paid ads solution works.
Bidding and Setting Your Budget
Google Ads works on a pay-per-click model, in that you pay for every click on your ad listings. After identifying a particular keyword related to your target audience, you bid on it against other businesses in your niche. The amount of your bid, also known as the maximum bid, is the highest amount of money that you are willing to pay Google to display your ad.
For instance, if your maximum bid is S$10 and Google sets the cost-per-click at S$3, your ad listing will be visible to your target audience. If your budget is lower then the cost-per-click, nobody will see your ad.
Alternatively, you can set a maximum daily budget for your ad campaign. This is a more cost-effective approach than bidding since your daily spend cannot exceed the limits you set.
When bidding, you should consider the following three factors.
- Cost-per-click – this is the amount you pay when a user clicks on your ad.
- Cost-per-mille – this is the cost incurred when your ad listing gets 1,000 impressions.
- Cost-per-engagement – this is the amount you pay when a person completes a specific desired action, such as watching a video, registering for a service, and so forth.
Quality Score
After bidding, Google pairs your ad listing with its quality score. According to the search engine, quality score is a measure of the quality of your ads, keywords and landing pages. If deemed high, it could result in lower prices and more visibility for your ad listing.
The score ranges from one to ten, with ten being the highest. The higher it is, the higher your as rank on search results and the Google Advertising Network.
Ad Rank
Google determines your Ad Rank by pairing your maximum bid with your quality score. The Ad Rank refers to the position of your listing on search results. Similar to organic searches, a higher rank translates to a higher click-through rate, which in turn improves conversion rates.
The following graph shows the varying click-through rate for Google Ads based on their positions.

The Cost of Advertising on Google in Singapore
The cost of your Google Ads campaign depends on the amount of your maximum bid and the quality of your website. This means that one ad can cost more than the other, and vice versa.
The easiest way to determine the cost of advertising on Google is by understanding how the Ad Auction system works. Every time a user types a keyword that you are targeting, Google automatically compares your Ad Rank with your competitors.
It is worth noting that a high bid and an enormous daily budget does not guarantee a high rank. Instead, Google rewards websites that are valuable to users by giving them a high-quality score. This means that a small business can advertise at lower costs than an established company, provided they have a high-quality ad.

Interactive Ads

Animated Ads

Increasing Competition
The most significant challenge to digital advertising in increasing competition. Besides a growing number of companies in the sectors, clients are emerging as rivals to the traditional agencies. The reason behind this is the abundance of resources on the internet, meaning that previous customers can now run as campaigns without professional assistance.
If you want clients to keep outsourcing their as campaigns to you, you need to offer unique value. One way of doing this is by adding other services to advertising so that customers do not have to spend time seeking such services.
Adapting to New Technology
In recent years, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and the Internet of Things have gained popularity in several industries, including the digital advertising space. For instance, Google increased its ad revenue by 10% when it launched a beta campaign for automated ads based on artificial intelligence.
Companies that adapt quickly to these developments will not only survive, but they will also have the edge over their competitors. On the other hand, those who fail to conform to change risk becoming irrelevant or even worse, obsolete.
There is no other way around this problem – you have to adapt. Make sure that you also stay updated on the latest technological developments in the industry.
Hiring and Retaining the Right Staff
As a result of the increased competition, the market can no longer meet the demand for qualified advertising experts. This means that businesses, especially small ones, cannot afford to hire or keep their existing staff since they are unable to match the figures provided by established companies.
The solution to this challenge is training your in-house team to handle your ad campaigns. It might be costly at first, but it is more cost-effective in the long run since the expenses are not recurrent.
Increasing Regulation and Stricter Privacy Laws
The last notable challenge faced by digital advertisers is the growing prevalence of data privacy laws and regulations. Since the inception of the GDPR in the EU, several other jurisdictions have followed suit and implemented similar and sometimes harsher rules.
The issue with data privacy laws is that they make the collection of user information difficult since agencies must seek consent and tell the subject in question on how they plan to use the data. If a company decides to sample a hundred people to obtain such data, it would mean getting consent from 100 different individuals. Besides wasting time, it also wastes resources. However, it is impossible to forego such an exercise since you need the information for better targeting.
As of now, this problem has no solution – advertisers have to comply with the law or risk losing their licenses and getting hefty fines.
