Understanding the term Call to Action

always include a call to action for your online pages

Having a clear call to action makes the difference in whether or not a digital marketing campaign is effective. Every marketing campaign that you run, whether it is a print ad, email campaign, visual graphic, or video needs to have a clear goal and a call to action that conveys that goal to your audience. The goal of your campaign may be for the consumer to buy your product, sign up for your newsletter, download a free product, or to call your company. These are just a few possibilities and you may have other goals in mind per your overall marketing strategy.

Examples of Effective Calls to Action

An effective call to action will be clear and concise. It tells the consumer exactly what to do and how to do it. Here are some examples of calls to action that have been a part of effective internet marketing campaigns:

  • Call for your free quote and to schedule your first appointment!
  • Download your free cookbook to eliminate belly fat!
  • Sign up for tips and lessons on the best business blogging techniques!

In each of these examples, the desired action the consumer should take is clearly defined and the consumer is enticed to take that action as a result of the immediate value that action provides them. That immediate value, as seen in these examples, is a solution to a problem that consumer is facing and helps to build trust between the consumer and your company.

How to Use a Call to Action to your Advantage

Effective use of a call to action serves as an important part of lead generation through social media. It is a means of maintaining contact with a consumer and increasing their interest in your products and services. This allows you to create the perfect conditions in the mind of that consumer so that when you later pitch a sale to them, that consumer is compelled to follow through, becoming a new customer.
