Top Thai Restaurants In Singapore

dine at the best thai restaurants in singapore

There’s no shortage of Thai restaurants in Singapore. The city-state relishes several South East Asia cuisines, but Thai gastronomy stands out. Diverse eateries serve a rich menu of Thai inspired dishes ranging from tasty curries, noodle dishes, hot, spicy, and sour embellishments.

There’s no ending to the Thai servings you can enjoy in Thai restaurants. The pad Thai, aromatic rice, papaya salads, and finger-licking seafood is just the tip of the iceberg.

What is a Thai Restaurant?

Simply put, a Thai restaurant is a culinary establishment that specialises in preparing, serving, and selling Thai inspired dishes. The restaurant can be a traditional establishment or a contemporary eatery. The common aspect is that both versions preserve the authentic Thai cuisine ways.

In a Thai restaurant, the presence of sour, sweet, salty, and spicy food is second nature. If a restaurant cannot prepare dishes while observing this formula, it no longer satisfies the palates of customers who walk in looking for particular Thai servings.

A basic order in a Thai restaurant can consist of meat/fish serving, vegetables, noodle servings, and soup. The desert can comprise fresh fruit such as pineapple or cakes and exotic scoops.

A Guide to Ordering At a Thai Restaurant

  • Don’t wait for starters, main courses or accompaniments, Thai food is served all at one for al to share.
  • Thai dishes are all-inclusive. A balanced serving infuses different textures that combine crunchy recipes, light bites, and spicy elements in one plateful.
  • Find your proteins in different dishes if you prefer chicken curry, consider a pad Thai with prawns together with a stir-fry with beef.
  • Include your vegetables. Consider papaya salad, stir-fried broccoli, and a veggie noodle combo to spice up your meal.

Unique Characters of a Thai Restaurant in Singapore

For a restaurant to qualify as a respectable Thai eatery, it needs to fulfil some specifics. Here are some characteristics of a Thai restaurant in the Lion state.

Thai chef or trained cook

A restaurant that claims to be Thai inspired should employ a head chef who is a Thai national. If not, the chef needs to be a certified Thai cuisine expert with extensive training in the preparation of Thai food.

Thai cuisine methods and condiments

Authentic Thai restaurants stick to authentic Thai food preparation standards and ethics. They use ingredients such as lemongrass, galangal, Thai basil, and tamarind, among others. Even though creativity is crucial in food preparation, Thai restaurants stick to time-proven cuisine practices.

Veg and non-veg items

Thai eateries respect the vegetarian food bracket. There are significant veg and non-veg acknowledgments on the menu. Thai joints present menus that respect veg and non-vegans.

How to Eat Healthy At a Thai Restaurant

Thai foods are considered to be a healthier option compared to Chinese. Right form spring rolls that don’t dump heaps of oil to spicy sauces that are better than chines alternatives. And there are soups like the Tom yum that is almost sodium-free, not to mention the lemongrass spices. Surprisingly, there are healthy tips for eating Thai, including:

Sizzling veggie servings

With a backup of ginger, garlic, and chili, Thai vegetable servings offer serious flavour at the cost of a few calories. Entrees and sizzling vegetables can round off a meal without dumping unwanted calories on your plate

Check the Tofu

Tofu can suck up anything it comes into contact with. Always check the fried tofu to avoid filing up on the oil it slurped up during the baking. It’s better to have it sautéed.

Choose a Classic serving

Ordering a Pad Thai is a good bet in any Thai eatery. The entrée serving is no more than 600 calories. Also, it has low saturated fat content making it a good inclusion.

Examples of Thai Dishes You Should Try

There are popular Thai foods that every food-loving person loves to order in any Thai restaurant in Singapore. Here are unique examples of dishes to try.

Tod mun pla

Tod mun pla is the classic Thai appetizer. It’s a fish dish made of fish paste, long beans. It can be seasoned with red curry paste and lime leaves.

Kuay tiew phet

The dish is primarily Thai noodles. They can be served with pork and beef blend. You can order the duck noodle soup with cinnamon, anise, and spice varieties. The duck meat is perfectly balanced in the flesh to fat ratio.

Khao soi

This noodle soup is a combination of coconut broth, mustard greens, shallots, and crispy egg noodles—order with a lime sprinkle for exceptional texture.

“Authentic Thai food at it’s best! Fresh ingredients and herbs aplenty. Flavorful food that was awesome. Everything was cooked to near perfection, not too salty or sweet. The soup could be a bit more spicy and sour. Small restaurant that sits up to 8 small tables and 3 big tables (max 10). Cosy setting good for group dining. Service staff are attentive and courteous. Average $45/pax” – KC

“This is a cozy family fine dining restaurant which serves excellent Thai cuisine. All the ingredients used seem to be original. The food id flavorsome and fresh. Vegetarians are also taken care as they are willing to customize dishes as per requirement. The Thai desserts of red ruby with coconut ice cream plus mango with sticky rice gives it delicious finish. “Good place for what I think is fine Thai food. I am not am expert on Thai food but the flavours here are clearly more delicate than the usual Thai restaurants in Singapore. I especially liked the Thai fish cake and the green beef curry. The fish cake was tasty but not overly salty and oily. The beef curry had one of the most tender beef chunks that I have ever had in a curry. Will be back to try other items.” – Darren Teo

I highly recommend the Tom Yum (definitely), steamed fish, Pandan wrapped chicken add buttered prawn. All servers are really friendly and helpful. “I ordered the northern Thai pork ribs soup noodle. The waitress is good service and pretty:) She recommended the type of noodles to go with different soup noodle. I chose the brown rice bee Hoon.
The soup base is no MSG as they claimed. I think it is correct. I didn’t feel thirsty after eaten. The noodle is spicy but the spice favor and the spiciness was balanced well. The pork ribs itself are so tender, which can be easily rip off from the bone. I also ordered a lemongrass drink. The drink itself is very good! Not so sweet and refreshing. Will definitely go again for other food items. At the e end I ordered a basil pork to take away and according to the water it is also good:) Highly recommend a hidden gem inside Sim Lim Square!” – Wing

“One of my favorite Thai restaurants in Singapore! Very authentic Thai flavor and very reasonably priced. We love the signature style fried sea bass, the prawn sashimi and the green mango salad. Their papaya salad is very very spicy, so ask for milder spiciness if your tolerance is low.” Bec.X

“Stumbled upon this little modern eatery along the charming Joo Chiat area, we were treated to an array of authentic Thai cuisine dressed in western outfit. Though it’s uncommon to see Thai food served in the forms of tapas and sharing plates, they add an exciting twist to the mundane tom yum and paid thai. There is a mixture of grilled meat and seafood together with Thai savories. The grilled steak was done to perfection and the tom yum soup was spiced to guarantee sweat. The hype is lively with good flow of farang customers enjoying their beers over bites. Definitely worthy try!” – Chee.K

“Really loving the idea of peppery and garlicky soup with thin rolls of kway chap and a flurry of pig parts! “Delicious authentic Thai food that don’t break your purse or the bank. The Tom yum noodles is as delicious as the one I had at yeowarat road and the pineapple fried rice is heavenly. The meat and ingredients are fresh and pairs well with the food offerings. Staff are attentive and service oriented and are knowledgeable. I had the lunch specials and paired it with the Thai milk tea and lemon tea. The milk tea is fagrant and balanced and not overly sweet, hits all the right notes. They also offer their signature coconut soft serve at only a dollar with purchase which was a tropical delight !” – Kong.K

“Noodles are super QQ. Ingredients are tasty and cooked well. Recommend to get the bigger bowl.”-Samuel.W

Review 2

“Closest you ever get to Soi 19 in Bangkok. Honestly, i feel this is even better than the original. The original Soi 19 has lost its charm in terms of taste and quality. The Singapore version is much better in terms of taste and quality and albeit the popularity the two key qualities have not waver. Keep it up!” – Beaver.C

“Delicious wanton Mee. I keep coming back for it’s simplicity in their noodle, firm, look plain but tasty. I like the cracking sound when you bite into their pork lard. [email protected]” – Chimi.K

“They have authentic indonesian food which taste just like the food i had in indonesia. Pricewise it is affordable especially if yiu are a huge fan of indonesian food. If you dont, well they have a variety of thai food for you to try!”- Fenina.G

Review 2

“Honestly, I always choose this restaurant in malls as it will almost never have a queue, and the food is above average in terms of quality. Both the green and red curry are acquired tastes, although sometimes I lament the inadequate chicken portions in the curry. I would prefer the clear tomyum over the normal tomyum, but it is more of a personal preference. All of the vegetable options are fine and well prepared, and ordering the snack platter is a good choice if you’re h ungry.Although the portion sizes when served may look small, it is often fulfilling enough for the average diner.Ambience is perfect with few crowds even during peak periods.” – Fomsey.P
