Why You Should Send Your Children to Top Private Schools In Singapore
Introduction: When it comes to providing the best education for your children, the choices can be overwhelming. In Singapore, there are numerous options available, ranging from public schools to international schools and private schools.
In this blog post, we will focus on the benefits of sending your children to top private schools in Singapore. Private schools offer a unique educational experience, and by exploring the advantages they provide, you can make an informed decision about your child’s future.
Smaller Class Sizes for Individual Attention
One significant advantage of top private schools in Singapore is their smaller class sizes. Unlike public schools, where class sizes can be large and student-teacher ratios high, private schools often maintain smaller classes, allowing for more individual attention.
With fewer students in the classroom, teachers can provide personalized instruction, address each student’s unique learning needs, and foster a supportive and engaging learning environment. This individualized attention can greatly benefit your child’s academic progress and overall development.
High Academic Standards and Rigorous Curriculum
Top private schools in Singapore are renowned for their high academic standards and rigorous curriculum. These schools often have a strong emphasis on academic excellence, preparing students for future success.
The curriculum is carefully designed to challenge students and encourage critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Private schools often offer a wide range of subjects, including enrichment programs and extracurricular activities that provide a well-rounded education.
By sending your children to a top private school, you can ensure that they receive a comprehensive and academically rigorous education.
Holistic Development and Character Building
Private schools in Singapore not only focus on academic excellence but also prioritize holistic development and character building. These schools recognize the importance of nurturing well-rounded individuals who possess not only knowledge but also strong values and character traits.
They often incorporate character education programs, leadership opportunities, and community service initiatives into their curriculum. Private schools aim to develop students who are not only academically competent but also compassionate, responsible, and socially aware.
By sending your children to a top private school, you can help shape their character and instill in them the qualities that will benefit them throughout their lives.
State-of-the-Art Facilities and Resources
Top private schools in Singapore are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and resources that enhance the learning experience.
From well-equipped science laboratories to modern technology and IT infrastructure, these schools invest in providing students with access to the latest tools and resources.
Private schools understand the importance of creating an environment that fosters creativity, innovation, and hands-on learning. By enrolling your children in a private school, they will have access to cutting-edge facilities and resources that can enrich their educational journey.
Strong Teacher-Student Relationships
Private schools often cultivate strong teacher-student relationships, creating a supportive and nurturing environment. With smaller class sizes, teachers can build meaningful connections with their students, getting to know them individually and understanding their strengths and weaknesses.
This close relationship allows teachers to provide personalized guidance and support, fostering a positive and encouraging learning atmosphere.
Students in top private schools often feel more engaged and motivated, knowing that they have a supportive network of teachers who genuinely care about their success and well-being.
Diverse and Inclusive Learning Community
Private schools in Singapore pride themselves on creating diverse and inclusive learning communities. These schools often attract students from various backgrounds, cultures, and nationalities, fostering an environment of acceptance and understanding.
By exposing your children to a diverse student body, they can develop a global perspective, appreciate different cultures, and learn to collaborate and communicate effectively with individuals from various backgrounds.
This exposure to diversity prepares students for the multicultural world they will navigate in the future.
Sending your children to top private schools in Singapore can offer numerous advantages and benefits. From smaller class sizes and high academic standards to holistic development and state-of-the-art facilities, private schools prioritize providing a well-rounded and enriching learning experience.
Extensive Extracurricular Opportunities
Another compelling reason to consider sending your children to top private schools in Singapore is the extensive extracurricular opportunities they offer. Private schools understand the importance of a well-rounded education that goes beyond the classroom.
They provide a wide range of extracurricular activities such as sports, arts, music, drama, debate, and community service. These activities not only allow students to explore their passions and interests but also develop essential skills such as teamwork, leadership, time management, and perseverance.
Private schools often have excellent facilities and experienced coaches or instructors who can guide students in honing their talents and pursuing their passions outside of academics.
College and Career Preparation
Top private schools in Singapore place a strong emphasis on preparing students for college and future careers.
They provide comprehensive guidance and support throughout the college application process, assisting students in identifying suitable universities, preparing for entrance exams, writing compelling personal statements, and navigating scholarship opportunities.
Private schools often have dedicated college counselors who work closely with students to ensure they make informed decisions about their higher education.
Additionally, private schools focus on developing essential skills such as critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, and adaptability, which are highly valued in the professional world.
By sending your children to a private school, you are equipping them with the tools and resources necessary for their future success.
Networking and Alumni Connections
Private schools in Singapore often have strong networks and alumni connections that can benefit students throughout their lives. Alumni networks provide a valuable resource for mentorship, internships, job opportunities, and professional connections.
Private schools actively foster these networks by organizing alumni events, career fairs, and networking sessions, allowing current students to engage with successful individuals who have walked the same path.
These connections can open doors and provide valuable guidance and support as students navigate their academic and professional journeys.
By sending your children to a top private school, you are providing them with access to a robust network of alumni that can significantly impact their future.
Flexibility and Customization
Private schools in Singapore often offer flexibility and customization in their educational programs. They recognize that each student is unique with different learning styles, interests, and aspirations.
Private schools provide opportunities for personalized learning, allowing students to pursue subjects of interest, engage in independent research, or participate in advanced courses if they demonstrate exceptional abilities. This flexibility ensures that students receive an education tailored to their individual needs and aspirations, maximizing their potential and fostering a love for learning.
The individual attention, rigorous curriculum, strong teacher-student relationships, and diverse learning community contribute to shaping students into confident, knowledgeable, and compassionate individuals.
By considering private schools as an option, you can provide your children with a solid foundation for their future academic and personal success.
Private schools are a thriving industry due to the demand for enrichment classes to supplement government schools as well provide alternatives to government funded tertiary universities due to strict admission requirements which lead to a search for alternatives to official universities locally without the concomitant high costs of living abroad.
About private schools in Singapore
The landscape for private education is rich from nursery schools in neighbourhoods to tuition centres that provide private lessons to supplement official schooling and private degree providers like SUSS degrees which tie up with overseas institutions in London and Australia and KAPLAN schools which confer overseas degrees for courses conducted locally.

I have had an overall pleasant experience here, had to make friends with many people over the years and have gotten used to my friends constantly leaving. Despite moving from the old campus which was previously located in Paterson road and moving to a modernised, newer campus with better facilities, there is still one thing that could be improved in my opinion. The canteen’s food has been more or less the same ever since I joined the school and the chicken nuggets still make me sick. More variety of food should be added to the menu. |

Trends observed in Singapore’s private education
There are 291 private education institutions (PEIs), compared with about 1,000 in 2009. Due to tightening of regulation to ensure stricter standards for the conferment of degrees with stricter protocols and regulations to be passed the private school landscape has been streamlined to ensure that better degree standards are met.
Sample costs of private schools
Costs for private education are higher than government funded schools due to the lack of subsidies. At Nexus International School in Ulu Pandan, Tuition fees are of a range according to grade level, starting from $21,660 for half-day nursery students to $38,584 for Years 12 to 13. For private degrees, a KAPLAN overseas degree typically costs $19,260 per year for courses like business, finance, marketing and communications. A 4 year honors law will cost $21,400 per annum. An SUSS accountancy or business degree will typically cost about $33,440 over 4 years at a subsidy for locals and double for foreigners.
Benefits of private schools
While the Singaporean education is widely recognized internationally for its rigor and quality, the downside of such a rigorous education is the emotional stress and psychological distress caused by those who struggle to keep up with such consistently demanding standards and rigor. The fallout is a sense of failure and inadequacy for those who fail to excel in the system. Private schools alternatively tend towards greater variety and diversity in curriculum, staff and student population. The demand for performance and high grades is less apparent in private schools as there is greater diversity and inclusion of those of diverse talent.
