” I attended Tiffany’s Advanced Pilates: It was a great workout, the amount of perspiration on me was like doing cardio. I indeed could feel my waistline on day 2 after Pilates class. Day 1 was a day of muscle aches. Great for toning body! “

“Gym is neat and meticulous about cleanliness and hygiene. Instructors are patient and skilled, always attentive and able to adjust moves accordingly to whatever your skill level / state of health is. So you always get a good workout whether you’re looking to build strength, rehab, or generally tone/stretch. The class descriptions are pretty accurate, so just read them to know which class you’re after.” – Michelle Chua |
Review 2 | “I have done 3 sessions with SP+ Pilates and want to give a shout out to the great services rendered. Right from enquiry to booking to actual classes, there is this sense of warmth emitting from all the personnel I’ve interacted with. the instructors are very patient with me as I’m new to Pilates and just starting to return to exercise after a few years. Highly recommend this sincere and honest school!!!” — Kevin Fang |

“Is my first time to try out Pilates and I fell in love with Pilates over yoga. Maybe is because of the superb instructor at SP+. I told Stef that my left wrist will feel painful and can’t support myself well. She is attentive to my needs and ensure that I won’t over exert to hurt my wrist by providing support for my wrist to minimize the pressure on it. An awesome and safe workout there that really made me feel the after effect!” -Tang Jiamin |

I did my first pilates class at Breathe and have been going now for almost 2 years. I’ve also been to some other studios but Breathe has been my favourite. They have a great selection of Instructors and the reformer machines they use are better than most other group classes. I’d definitely recommend them. |

I am 63 years of age and suffering from numerous back and neck problems for many years. In the past I have been referred to Physios and Chiropractors and have obtained some short term relief, but not lasting benefits that we hope for. I have had injections in my neck to freeze the nerve ends which has had some positive results but rather extreme when a significant number of injections are required for pain relief, without the benefit of neck mobility which is paramount for daily activities of driving and general movement. I attended Central Pilates on recommendation of my consulting Physio and was attended to by instructor Jun. After weekly visits for 3 months and instructions for daily home exercises of approx 30 minutes a day, I am astounded at MY results. I still attend Central Pilates but fortnightly not weekly and my mobility for both back and neck have improved significantly, to the point where my Physio has recommended that I just need to keep doing what I am doing under the guidance of Instructor Jun. A very big thank you to Central Pilates, especially Jun, and if you have suffered long enough and want long term results, GIVE CENTRAL PILATES A TRY. |
Review 2 |
I have been doing Pilates for several years with Central Pilates. I tried several studios and found I didn’t improve. I have severe back pain that left me unable to do basic activities. After a few sessions at Central I found that my pain levels had reduced significantly. The team are wonderful, friendly and understanding. They are well trained and have a sharp eye for detail and faulty movement patterns. Highly recommend this studio. |

I went to Line Pilates for about three months. its in a very ideal location, and it was nicely organized and clean. Tried the sessions in English and in Korean and they were both phenomenal. Highly recommend this studio for 1-on-1 Pilates sessions. The studio is easily accessible, spacious, calm/quiet, and extremely clean. Types of Pilates
There are five main types of pilates that we will cover today. This will help you in choosing the best class for you, from the varieties offered in the above studios.
-
Classical Pilates
TThe founder of pilates, Joseph H. Pilates, used this term to describe his sequence of 34 exercises. These exercises were always carried out in the same sequences for the desired number of repetitions. It may or may not include equipment. -
Mat Pilates
Usually introduced to beginners, this exercise strengthens the core and revolves around the classical pilates exercises. Equipment needed may include weights, exercise balls and resistance bands.
-
Reformer Pilates
Reformer Pilates is slightly more challenging than the basic Mat Pilates. This is due to the added resistance from equipment such as springs, straps and ropes. The use of a reformer is used and the workout is good for building muscle strength.
-
Contemporary Pilates
A modern version of the Classical Pilates technique, these exercises are based on modern research regarding muscle memory, rehabilitation and recovery and other areas.
-
Stott Pilates
Founded in 1990 by Moira Stott-Merrithew, it differs from the traditional pilates in terms of posture. While the classical pilates require the spine to be flattened against the ground, Stott Pilates technique maintains the spine’s natural curve, keeping it off the floor.
Conclusion
In short, pilates is a workout that has different intensities to suit your every need. Be it young or old, fat or thin, this is a workout for everyone, that will benefit everyone. What are you waiting for? Sign up now at one of the above studios!
