Top Massage Services In Singapore

Massage Service Centre in Singapore

Massages are a cheap and quick alternative to a getaway. For just an hour, ferry away from the stressful concrete jungle and enter into a realm of tranquillity.

Instead of rushing off to the next meeting, time freezes for you to savour every moment.

Instead of pushing your body to achieve your next fitness milestone, time to reward your body with soothing strokes and rubs.

Unfortunately, massage services worldwide have been tainted by the emergence of “special services” genres, causing many to have second thoughts about the industry. This is disheartening, considering how massages were one of the earliest healing traditions worldwide. From ancient Greece to Mesopotamia and all the way to the far eastern civilisations of China and Japan, the art of massage always has a noble cause of treating pain and alleviating stress.

Benefits of Massages

In this article, we aim to show that massage services can be dignified, sophisticated and family-friendly. So let’s find out what are the benefits of getting a massage!

It helps you to sleep better

Sleeplessness or insomnia is one of the pressing issues of the developed world.

However, after a rejuvenating massage session, your muscles will be nicely stretched and relaxed, making the trip to dreamland easier.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Beata Aleksandrowicz, creator of the Pure Massage Spa Training Method, said that massages can help balance the hormonal system and reduce the cortisol level by 30 per cent. With this stress hormone heavily reduce, one can expect a better night’s rest.

It helps you undo the pain and stress from sitting in front of your computer

Warning. Sitting is one of the worst positions for a body to be in. At this very moment, you could be on your way to manifest stress and pain in your back, spine, shoulders and neck!

In a Mashable article, a leading expert in neck and back pain, Kelly McGonigal, Ph.D., revealed a disturbing fact. According to her, sitting distorts the natural curve of the spine, leaving your back muscles to do all that work to withstand the weight of your upper body. Ouch!

Fortunately, a massage session could help you to alleviate those muscle pains and counter the imbalances caused by sitting.

It reduces anxiety and pacifies depression

While it’s not a miracle pill or a replacement for seeing a therapist, massage can increase the level of serotonin and dopamine in your body. These neurotransmitters can help improve your mood and behaviour.

Most popular types of massage in Singapore

Swedish

Sometimes known as “the massage for newbies”, Swedish massage is characterised by its tender stroking, kneading, tapping, vibrating and rubbing. It focuses on the top layer of your muscles instead of the connective tissues.

Having a Swedish massage can also increase the serotonin levels in your body, assisting you to feel better and sleep well.

Deep Tissue

Like Swedish massage, deep tissue massage uses similar strokes. Unlike Swedish massage, deep tissue focuses on firmer and slower strokes. It also goes deep into the layers of muscle and fascia to break up tight knots. Its main purpose is to help you loosen your muscles and improve your blood circulation.

Shiatsu

With roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shiatsu, aims to stimulate different energetic points of our body, known as meridians. Despite its Japanese term for finger pressure, Shiatsu masseurs also employ the use of thumbs, palms and feet to give your muscles a nice tension relief.

Aside from alleviating muscle pain and tension, Shiatsu is also known for increasing blood flow and circulation, as well as releasing toxins from your body.

Thai

This is a “level-up” massage. Just like Muay Thai, this form of massage can be vigorous. The masseur uses his/her hand, legs, knees and feet to give your body a nice Yoga-like stretch.

While it is not for those looking to “lie down and chill out”, Thai massage has its benefits. It can help you to release tension from your muscles and boost your energy level. Its philosophy of balancing energy around the body can also help you to relieve headaches.

Aromatherapy

This form of massage is characterised by its use of essential oils that are extracted from various plants and herbs. The fragrance produced from these oils can help induce calmness.

It’s excellent for reducing levels of stress and depression, as well as loosening up your muscles.

How to get the most out of your massage session?

If you’re reading up to this point, you’re probably eager to check out the spa listings below.

Now hang on a second. To reap the full benefits of your session, consider these following tips.

Have a meal at least 2 hours before your session

Your body needs time to digest your meal. You certainly wouldn’t like to feel bloated or have any thoughts of going to the loo during your session!

Be punctual

The feeling of rushing and being late just spoils your mood for anything.

Arrive at least 15 minutes before your session. That would allow time for registration and some time for you to soak up the vibe of the spa.

Communicate with your masseur before the session

This is a crucial step. You have to tell your masseur if you would like to have a firmer or gentle session. Inform them of any injuries or health conditions you have so that they will be mindful of it.

Remember, massage is supposed to alleviate, not aggravate your pain. You are also there to enjoy, not suffer.

Have a warm shower before your massage

Having warm showers can help loosen your muscles, which will facilitate a more relaxing experience during the massage.

Drink lots of water after your session

According to Dr Oz, massages can be dehydrating. This is because the massage process involves having fluid being pumped out of your soft tissue, all the way to your kidneys. Therefore, it’s not uncommon for people to use the toilet right after a session.

Drinking lots of water will help to replace the discharged fluid.

Review 1 “I enjoyed the 4-in-1 Massage that consists of a back scrub, hot stone therapy, full body massage and an eye massage. The massage therapist was very skillful and did an excellent massage that soothed my tense muscles The place is homey and cozy, with feminine touches and the staff there are friendly and easy to talk to. I like that even though they will recommend their packages, they did not hard-sell, which is a huge turn-off for me. I would revisit this place when I feel in need of some pampering, and have also recommended to friends. It is also near to Orchard Rd, so quite convenient for pre or post-shopping pampering” – Lady.B

Review “Went with a friend to this place as I had some sore arms after a workout the previous day. It was a cozy establishment with friendly and skilled staff. My masseuse managed to hit all the spots without me having to explicitly specify. I was literally “in good hands”. The place was well-maintained and clean, and while situated in a neighbourhood massage centre, its service can give the premium ones a run for their money. While their rates are already decent, their membership rebate card system makes it even more reasonable.  All in all, a great place for a great massage located in a great neighbourhood space. Highly recommended.” – Adwin.L

Compared to a lot of 5 star hotel spas, the steam room is definitely one of the better one. Well maintained and I like the part where it is divided into 3 sections of heat where you can enjoy the level of heat which u r most comfortable with. There are two jacuzzi pool, one indoor and one outdoor. Overall, great experience.” – Wendy.W

Thankfully every person is phenomenal, has great “feel”, strength, and knows how to ride the delicate balance between pain and pleasure. My most recent session was with Huang Lei, great service and treatment!” – Jason.R

Review 3 ” I have been going for massage sessions since 7 years old. Your staff, Jeffrey, is the best messeur I have ever tried so far. He is very skilful and capable in fixing my sprains from sport injuries/ backache. My weekly “servicing” by him allows me to continue playing my favourite sport. Jeffrey from Toa Payoh branch is really an asset to your organisation. He always aims to perfectly solve customers’ sprains/ aching problems and he wont burge to give sloppy massage as he has a reputation to upkeep. Very professional instead! I have been going to the Toa Payoh branch for a few years and recommending my volleyball friends (at least 30+) to him too. Keep up the excellent service!” – Tan.C

Review 1 love the body massages here!
have always been having back issues from sitting too long and have been going for body massages for years.
this is by far the best body massage that i have had! good strength control, precise in getting the right points and best of all, i walk out really refreshed and raring to go!
this will definitely be my go to place from now on! and oh, the place is very clean and quiet too….. – Christina Ang
Review 2 Such an amazing place to get a foot massage.. Surprisingly affordable and highly skilled masseuses. And you watch movies on the touchscreen panel in front you while you get massaged. – Ben Josh
Review 3 What an amazing gem of a place! Was in the area passing by but had stopped to have a look inside as the place just screamed comfort! Massive comfy seats with a big LED TV screen whilst having a foot massage?! Had a try out of interest and boy was it a good idea. I highly recommend the deep tissue massage and the foot massage thereafter.

I have been to many places like these before but the level of expertise and service from each member of staff was exceptionally good.

I cannot stress how highly I would recommend to anyone to try and I assure you would be feeling as amazing as I did when I left. – Colin Bemai Longman
