Singaporeans love hanging out with their favourite furry friends. That moment is even more special when they’re able to walk into their favourite restaurant or hotel, with their pooch in tow, and order a cup of coffee or latte.
Unfortunately, not every restaurant or coffee shop in the country is exactly pet-friendly. While a few will welcome your little pal, you can bet a majority of them will be looking at him with contempt.
To save you from the disappointment, we dug around for some of the best dog-friendly restaurants and hotel in Singapore and compiled them in a list.
But first:
What’s a Dog-friendly restaurant?
The term dog-friendly is a bit of an oxymoron. While dog owners are allowed to bring their dogs in the restaurants, the dogs are restricted to the outside seating area and not allowed to make it past the entrance.
Usually, the dog owner will specify if dogs are allowed on the deck area or patio.
For dog-friendly hotels, you’re allowed to bring your dog with you during your staycation and share the room. Some hotels offer special services for dogs, including a tailor-made menu for your four-legged furry friend.
About Dog-Friendly Restaurants in Singapore: Why are they Becoming Popular?
Singaporean travellers are so attached to their dogs. Many of them don’t even want to imagine leaving their dogs with their families, friends, or professional dog careers if the latest trend is any indication.
Nobody puts your furry friend in a corner. If the restaurant or hotel can’t have the both of you, then they sure aren’t having any of you.
Restaurant owners know this too well. Many of them are beginning to understand that they have to drop the contempt and create dog-friendly venues and services to accommodate the changing needs of customers and travellers.

What are the Perks of Operating a Dog-friendly Restaurant in Singapore?
-
They Make for a Fun Atmosphere
The vibrant energy that dogs bring with them make them fun to dine with. Uniquely, some of these restaurants will have small booster seats for small and well-behaved pups to sit with you at the table as big dogs enjoy their place at the doggie mat.
-
They’re Catnip to Customers
You can bet your restaurant will be attracting more customers just for allowing dogs.
Folks traveling with their friendly pals, those taking morning strolls around the park, and those looking to take their dogs out for a simple treat, are all considered part of your customer-base.
-
Will Enhance Your Social Media Presence
Dog owners love snapping their dogs and plastering the photos on Facebook for their friends to see. The more these photos garner attention the more popular your restaurant grows.
There’s no better way to generate social buzz around your restaurant than your customers Instagramming their furry friends. Just remember to remind them to tag you in those photos.
-
An Extra Source of Revenue
Dogs don’t just show up to watch their owners eat. You can capitalise on this opportunity by also offering special menu items for dogs.
Engineer a simple menu for specific dog food, and you’re bound to see a slew of new customers and orders.
