Custards or Puddings

Creamy custards or puddings usually come with dense milky bases.

Added creamer blended in determines the final texture of custard or the pudding.

Often, custards get baked or whipped with eggs.

Crème brûlée, or flan are considered baked custards.

Puddings get thickened with starches.

2 popular forms of puddings have tapioca or rice. Improvisations on puddings are vegan puddings or Instant Puddings.

Chilled Desserts

There are few less comforting ways to endure, temper humid sweltering days with than chilled ice cream.

Ice cream comes from cream whipped inside cold blenders to freeze contents so as to derive ideal texture.

Gelato employs some milk base rather than cream, has less air pumped in, as compared to ice cream.

Frozen custard employs some cooking base of whipped egg yolks.

To get low-milk dessert, take some sorbet, that comes flavored with blended fruit shakes.

Chilled yogurt takes yogurt to substitute some thicker milk foundation made of ice cream, overall this lowers the dose of calories in the drink.

Cakes

Cakes do not have to be confined to mere birthday parties.

Such desserts resemble soft, sugary pastry.

Types of cakes include Angel Food Cake composed of egg whites, Sponge Cake, Flourless Cakes including some Sachertorte, German Chocolate Cake, Pavlova Cake baked using some meringue foundation, Pound Cake or Fruitcake. Petits fours, Cupcakes or Snack cakes are small servings of bigger cakes.

Awfully Chocolate has packaged artisanal mooncakes luxuriously presented in their one-of-a-kind bespoke wooden keepsake chests. Each chest of Classic Baked Mooncakes even comes with four brushed gold tins with engraved wooden lids and individual gold fork-knives. These elegantly designed wooden chests are perfect as an accessory box. -foodgem .sg
Review 2 After missing the chocolate cakes for a few months, it feels very good to finally have it
Review 3 The chocolate cake is so moist and good. Not sweet or dry at all. Unfortunately, they only have one whole cake for this and they don’t sell by slices. So I can only buy this during birthdays or functions.

Review 1 Went to Taka outlet this afternoon. Cakes are nicely arranged and looks really good! Bought a few cupcakes to try. 1 of my favourite is the unicorn red velvet. The cupcakes taste have improved! Staff is friendly and approachable! She packed it nicely 🙂 Thank you!!
Review 2 Really pretty designs and affordable!

Ordered it at Takashimaya and filled up a form for delivery on the actual day.

Really pretty cake but I think the cake was not as tasty as we expected it to be.

It did not taste much of Nutella but it does look nice 🙂

Review 3 Freshly baked cakes & cupcakes at the heart of Orchard. Price is reasonable & friendly staff.

Review 1 Aroma of bread and pastry upon entering. Queue started building up after 12pm on weekends.
Review 2 Ordered their mini cupcakes that comes in box of 12 for a company event. Bite sized was just nice where you could try many flavors without feeling full. Paid $25 for a direct 1hr slot delivery that came promptly for our event. Though I wish this 1hr slot delivery could be slightly cheaper. Will definitely order from them again.
Review 3 Among all the bakeries in Tiong Bahru, this one has one of the largest displays by the cashier – pastries (sweet and savory), sandwiches, cakes, cupcakes, brownies – a feast for the eye even if there is not enough stomach space to try more than a couple of them! Very nice space inside with a chill vibe, some cute merchandise there as well.

Review 1 Great place for ice cream while at Orchard Road. There is a wide selection of ice cream flavours available at the Scoop Shop and there are some flavours such as The Tonight Dough that is not available in the supermarkets. It is recommended to visit the store in the evening as the seating areas are outdoor.
Review 2 The place is near the Somerset MRT and outside of 313 mall. It’s perfect to beat the heat among the hustle and bustle of the city. They have a variety of flavor selection but my favorite is the coffee and vanilla. The only downside of the place is that they don’t have inside seating so expect the ice cream today melt quickly.
Review 3 Good delicious ice cream with great flavors to choose from..

Review 1 Many interesting and delicious flavors. Melt too fast tho, could provide biodegradable spoon so that people can taste all flavor before the top one melts and cover the rest of the flavors. Kind of expensive too but worth a try!
Review 2 Friendly service and amazing gelato. Wide range of interesting flavours for you to enjoy!
Review 3 One of the better ice cream places in Singapore amidst the plethora of ones that keep opening up every other week. They are located in the Katong area, which has a pretty high standard food offerings wise. It is slightly premium pricing, but the flavors are inventive and worth the money.

Review 1 Although it was a Friday afternoon, I had to wait for my table for 30min. Staff are friendly and alerted me by SMS. Ordered the American Burger and Traditional Burger. The beef was cooked just perfect – well done in the sides with a little red in the center. Ordered the Brooklyn Craft Beer, which was satisfying on a hot day. Overall a hearty meal and great service.
Review 2 Good burgers and food, big portions, and a great service staff! The upscale-but-casual dining atmosphere makes for a relaxing dining experience for groups of all sizes. Better to visit Black Tap during a non-peak period/timing as the (virtual) lines can get pretty long during peak periods. Otherwise, try your best to get a reservation! Also best to go in a bigger group so your whole party can order a variety of dishes and you can try them all!
Review 3 One of the best place for milkshakes. Had to tried it due to the great reviews. True enough the long wait of reservations was a proof. When we were there we had a long list of milkshakes to choose from and decide what was good. We decided on the chocolate one to “pair” with fries. Will be back again when we crave for milkshakes.

Review 1 This place has many varieties of ice cream to choose from.
Waffle is not so sweet which compliments the waffle very well.
The cappuccino & flat white are very good too. One of the better coffees I’ve tasted in Singapore.
A must try if you are in the Bedok area. Yummy 😋
Review 2 One of my favourite ice cream shops. Be prepared to queue since the shop can only accommodate a handful of customers. The wait will be worth it since the waffle is freshly made after order and there are tons of interesting ice cream flavours. I especially like earl grey lavender, pu-er tea (seasonal flavour though), and butter beer. Whenever I visit I will try to order seasonal flavours.
There are two types of waffles — brown butter and charcoal. I like the charcoal waffle, add additional $1. Also like the salted caramel sauce that comes with the waffle.
Review 3 Had the charcoal waffle with yuzu matcha and butter beer ice cream. The caramel sauce was drizzle around the waffle and not on the waffle which made the waffle rather dry to eat with the ice cream. Can top up sgd1 for additional sauce but their salted egg yolk had finish so had to make do with the dry waffle.

Review 1 shop true is to its name, indeed a very humble space and service. waffle was more on the chewy side but freshly made. orh nee ice cream was surprisingly good in terms of flavour and texture.
Review 2 This is one of my favourite ice cream parlours. It is the most unassuming ice place located in Katong Shopping Centre. They have the most extensive local flavours, and all flavours are damn on point! I love it that they are not stingy with the ingredients, and yet the ice creams are not overpowering – you keep wanting more.
Review 3 Second time here! I’ll have The Humble Scoop over any other ice cream any day. Tried their Salted coconut & Gula Melaka, Pulau Hitam, pistachio and Royal milk tea. The salted coconut & Gula Melaka is my favourite!!!

Review 1 The best dessert place in Singapore! The ice cream and waffle combination is to die for, they have the best waffles I’ve ever had. The strawberry ice cream and waffles combo is one of the best. While it’s not easy to make a good strawberry flavor they’ve done an amazing job with the ice cream. They do occasionally change the menu according to season, so be on the look out for new ice cream flavors in different months. This is my favorite place to go with my mom for some delicious dessert.
Review 2 Went to Sunday Folks with my mum and wife. We enjoyed a quiet Sunday afternoon before heading to Holland Village for dinner. My mother loves the strawberry ice cream with waffle, which was recommended by the waitress (Emily). Wife commented the coffee was well brewed. Overall, 4 stars for this place. Recommended to check it out. Thanks. Johnny Jazz.
Review 3 Super yummy ice cream waffle. Came here multiple times but left after seeing the queue. Finally got to try it. Was full house even on a weekday, working hour.

Review 1 I stopped here looking for a sweet dessert(It is located next to Novena MRT). Ended up ordering a nice mango sago, Milk steamed egg with chocolate cookies topping, and grass jelly with watermelon. They were all so good. The mango sago is great; mango cubes cut in great chunky servings. The steamed egg was nice too. A bit sweeter than I expected but it was a perfect mix of chocolate and custard. This is a small venue probably able to cover about 20 people or less and it is decorated in Chinese-style, giving me a traditional feeling. So what I suggest is to try to choose a time when it’s not so busy because the queue will be pretty long. The busy times are between 5 pm and 7 pm. The service was good. The staff was welcoming and dishes came out quite fast. The price of each dessert wasn’t too expensive and it’s worth it for the quality of these wonderful dessert. Definitely, a must-try!
Review 2 Nice Chinese dessert place to have traditional desserts. It will be easy to miss it as the shop front is covered with a construction barricade.
Review 3 Fast service and nice touch using classic ceramic bowls and spoons. Dessert was light and refreshing

Review 2 Durian: it’s everywhere in Singapore. The smell is not appealing (it is not allowed on trains and hotel lobbies). Cookies

Cookies began as compact cakes.

The term cookie is rooted in Dutch phrase “koekje” denoting “little cake,” with reference to Nibble’s webpage.

Such contained spoonsful of cake batter warmed for testing overall oven temperature degrees in times preceding ovens holding thermometers.

Cookies diverge in sizing, shapes, or textures, still most have contents of base ingredients inclusive of Sweetener, Eggs, Butter, or Shortening with Flour.

Bakes include Chocolate Chip Cookies, Sugar Cookies, Gingersnaps, Tender Shortbread, Chewy Oatmeal Cookies, Crispy Meringues, or Cake-like Bar Cookies.

Pies

Some typical version of pies contain some crust holding some fillings.

Baked Crust could be placed on top with bottom, perhaps only lower base, baked using pastry, perhaps Graham Cracker Crumbs. Pie Fillings cover Custards, Puddings, Nuts, or Fruits. Chocolate Cream Pie, Lemon Meringue Pie, Shoo-Fly Pie, Pecan Pie, Apple Pie or Tarts remain several possible pie forms.

Tarts are shaped with the Baking Pan by rolling out forms using the blunt edges for shaping, not through the use of capping over with crusting cover.

Chocolates or Candies

Chocolates or candy come from crystallization of sugars.

Final solidification of used sugar crystals determines the final texture for such Candy.

Rock candy contains big sugar crystals with some chewy texture, still, fudge contains small sugary crystals, to provide more svelte texture.

Candy or chocolate desserts cover Fudge, Caramel, Lollipops, Taffy, Marshmallows, Fondant, Pralines, or Cotton Candy.

Pastries

Some typical flaky pastry employed for baking Pie Crusts gets used in alternative desserts inclusive of Cream Puffs, Baklava, Eclairs, Danish Pastries or Palmier.

Profiteroles come from some unleavened dough holding more substantial portions of Fat.

Over baking, the Pastry Dough gets kneaded gently for making the final pastry soft or chewy to touch.

More Desserts

Several desserts fail to fall neatly under merely 1 class.

Cheesecake counts in here.

While this comes termed cake, this better is termed a tart, still, inner filling comes from some custard.

Desserts that use base fruit puree may also not fall neatly under typical categories.

Flaming Bananas Foster or Cherries Jubilee denote Fruity Desserts using some syrup or alcohol topping.

Such topping is doused in at the tables preceding meals to form dazzling displays to heighten the sense of glamour, fun.
