Top Culinary Schools in Singapore

Culinary Schools, Culinary Lessons

Cooking from a bustling kitchen often demands multi-tasking, hard work.

Chefs remain responsible for guaranteeing the freshness of all ingredients within the kitchen, flavors, crafting menu fare, collating recipes, adjusting serving sizes, procuring, or upkeeping kitchen stocks, or overseeing cooking procedures.

Though certain chefs may initiate, proceed to cooking formally without professional certification, culinary training truly provides culinary students some taste of the gritty experiences of cooking under intense conditions.

Upon finishing some culinary degree training, budding chefs may start respective vocations firmly grounded, aware of being trained, rigorously prepared to get into the highly demanding food, beverage market.

Such schools train participants in foundations of food-preparation, also providing students very intense, rigorous training in diverse cooking styles to use in real cooking.

Vocational Schools

Participants that register under culinary lessons at vocational schools may be provided some formal, intensive cooking training, whereas these could elect to train in selected practical focus on certain specializations over the extended time of cooking classes.

Subsequently, and for practical purposes, students gain expertise in certain specialized versions of culinary arts, inclusive of certain distinct forms of cuisine or styles.

Culinary Schools

Distinct from schools from which students may finish some culinary degree, culinary schools narrowly confine all registered educational classes to general culinary arts.

While certain schools could demand for students learning non-culinary classes—inclusive of language, mathematics, or Nutrition—culinary modules are written in a strict manner so ultimately all training is just linked to food-preparation.

Owing entirely to the complete, exclusive cooking emphasis, participants from culinary schools mostly get trained in updated, new techniques or technologies, enabling the trainees to get into the food industry with updated training.

To add, culinary schools usually hire international celebrity chefs, who possess impressive, stellar resumes or have some highly cosmopolitan insights about food markets to impart to trainees.

Review 1 I’ve done many cooking and baking classes at various spots in Singapore, and Palate Sensations is definitely at the top. In particular I appreciate that all of their chefs are trained, industry professionals, which means they are able to instruct at a level above and beyond self taught home cooks and bakers. I’ve done classes now with 5 different instructors and all have impressed me with their knowledge, the valuable tips and tricks their share, and also their friendliness and approachability.

The sheer variety of classes offered is amazing, and I’m always finding a new one I want to try. The classes are well organised, with ingredients prepared and measured out ahead of time and recipes printed clearly and in detail. There have been a couple of occasions where minimum class numbers were not reached but they went ahead with the class nonetheless, which I think is amazing and is unheard of at other cooking schools in the city. There was one class, a 6-hour chocolate bonbon class, where I was the only participant, one on one with pastry chef Al. Amazing!

The food I’ve prepared has always turned out perfectly, is delicious and they are incredibly generous with the portions prepared, so I’ve always had leftover to take home and share with my family (such as the over 100 chocolate bonbons I made!). And the instructions and recipes are so clear and easy to follow that I’ve been able to replicate them at home with great success. This is a place I keep returning to again and again, and will continue to do so!

Review 2 First time attending sourdough bread making class. Chef is professional, teaching and guiding us to make the bread. The place is well equipped with all the essentials for classes. They had other cooking classes when I was there. Really busy on a public holiday. Go early if u are taking the MRT and walking to their venue. It’s not a long walk, but it could take a bit of time finding the place.
Review 3 We did a private class and learnt great Korean recipes! Chef Lynette was really helpful and kind enough to adapt the recipes for one of our vegan participants, so everyone was happy. Recipes were user friendly and can be done again at home. The place was modern, clean and well stocked with equipment, it made everything pleasant and fun. We all had a good time and left with full, happy tummies!

Review 1 This is the first culinary school I had attended and had very good experience from it as compared to another few I attended subsequently.

The course syllabus are practical and essential for people who want to work in the F&B industry or to start their F&B businesses.

The admin support is superb and chef are Willing to share and impart their knowledge and skill to us.  We are taught various Asian cuisine and usage of commercial kitchen equipments.

The only “complain” I have is it can be physically draining at times as it’s a full day program with washing down of kitchen but this is part of the training.  At times the seafood ingredient that gave us was a bit disappointment though maybe due to my high expectations though.Overall the Diploma in Culinary Arts had well exceeded my expectations and met all my objective of attending the course.

Review 2 This is not just a culinary school; I would say this is an industry standard. I’ve joined the certificate classes and no regrets. I was prep with skills before I took the step into the full running f&b kitchen out there.  The facilities here are well equipped, they have everything! It is a fun and enjoyable journey, especially with my classmates and trainer. The trainer has no secrets to hide, they are generous to share on insights and knowledgeable with industry standards.  Looking forward to every class here.
Review 3 I’m pretty impressed by the facilities of ACI. I always wanted to sign up for a culinary class and I’m sure I’ve made a right choice. The chef are all industry experts. They are selfless to share their skills and life experience. This is the right path and i know I’ve made the right choice.

Review 1 The macarons there are just awesome. A hint of salted caramel on top, different flavours. The “8” shape can only be auspicious when you eat these delicacies 🙂 . The “canneles” are also super good, crusty on the outside and light on the inside, my wife’s favourite.
Review 2 We initially wanted some caneles which are actually as good if not better than those in France and end up reordering also macarons with subtle fruity flavors. Would definitely recommend  !
Review 3 We really enjoy the canelés, which taste exactly like in Bordeaux! The macaroons which are the best since Ladurée left SG are the best I ever tasted ! This is a must try for you and a very nice gift for your friends and family ! :))
