What is cool sculpting

Coolsculpting is a non-invasive, non-surgical medical procedure that removes extra fat cells from beneath the skin. Coolsculpting works by placing fat sections in between two panels that bring the fat to a freezing temperature. This process is known as cryolipolysis.

What areas can be treated with coolsculpting

Coolsculpting can be used to treat problematic areas such as inner and outer thighs, lower back, lower abdomen, love handles, excess fat under the chin. Coolsculpting can also reduce the appearance of cellulite on the legs and arms. Cellulite is a harmless skin condition that causes lumpy, dimpled flesh on the thighs, hips, abdomen, and buttocks. Cellulite is primarily found in women.

Are the results of coolsculpting permanent

The results of coolsculpting should last for a very long time, almost indefinitely, because the fat cells that were killed are eliminated permanently. However, if you gain weight after undergoing coolsculpting treatment, you may gain back the fat cells in the treated areas.

Who can undergo coolsculpting

Not everyone is a suitable candidate for coolsculpting. This is not a weight-loss treatment, so it cannot treat obesity. Coolsculpting is a treatment for people who need specific help in removing small amounts of extra fats that they struggle to remove via diet or exercise. Generally, coolsculpting is a safe and effective treatment for reducing body fat in people. However, people who have conditions such as cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria (PCH) should not undergo coolsculpting due to the risk of dangerous complications.

How many sessions are needed for coolsculpting

The number of coolsculpting sessions you need is dependent on how large your intended treatment area is. If the problem area is small, 1 to 2 sessions would most likely be enough to see visible results. However, if you treat huge areas such as your belly, you may need 3 to 4 sessions or more to achieve your desired results.

Is coolsculpting painful

During the coolsculpting process, you may feel slight discomfort from tugging the fats at your treatment area when the doctor places the fat in between the panels. However, the coolsculpting process should not be painful. If you experience unusual sharp pain, raise the issue immediately and stop the coolsculpting process.

What are the side effects of coolsculpting

While coolsculpting has its benefits, it also comes with certain side effects. People who have undergone coolsculpting treatment may experience the following side effects:

  • redness, swelling, bruising, and skin sensitivity at the area of treatment
  • experience pain sensations, aching or stinging at the area of treatment

These side effects are short-term and usually go away in a few days. However, in very rare cases, coolsculpting can increase the volume of fat cells in the area of treated body parts. However, the reason behind this is not known. This problem seems to be more common in men than women.

What to expect during a coolsculpting session

Description of procedure

If it is your first time undergoing a coolsculpting session, your doctor will go through the process and explain how it works. Be sure to raise any questions and concerns you have at this point before the actual coolsculpting process.

Actual procedure

Before the actual procedure, your doctor will do a pre-procedure marking of the treatment area. Then, a gel pad and a suction applicator are placed on the treatment area. You may feel toggling, pulling or mild pinching sensation during the coolsculpting process. Each treatment area typically takes 30 to 60 minutes to treat. You can choose to check your phone or take a nap during the process.

Anaesthesia

Anaesthesia is not needed as coolsculpting is a painless procedure. However, some people may experience mild pain, which is a slight discomfort and should not be too much of an issue.

Post coolsculpting care

Immediately after the coolsculpting process, your treated area may feel numb and stiff. This is usually resolved after a few minutes of light massage. There may also be some bruising, swelling, and tenderness in the treatment area. These should not be of concern as they will go away in a few hours or days. There is no downtime after the coolsculpting treatment.

What to consider when choosing a coolsculpting service

Cost

Cost is one of the most important factors when it comes to choosing a coolsculpting service. Coolsculpting is relatively expensive, and it usually costs from $300 up to $600 or sometimes even more. It is important to search for a firm that offers coolsculpting service within your budget range, as you usually require more than one treatment to achieve your desired results. In the long run, the costs of the coolsculpting service are likely to add up and burn a hole in your pocket.

Testimonials and experience

The reputation, experience and testimonials of a coolsculpting service firm are also important factors to consider. Customers are more likely to go for firms with many years of experience in providing coolsculpting service because their money is more likely to be better spent. Coolsculpting firms with more experience are also more likely to have a higher customer satisfaction rate.

Service

Customer service is another factor to consider when choosing a coolsculpting firm. If you are comfortable with the service you receive, such as being welcomed and the staff have a friendly and positive attitude with no hard selling, you are more likely to have a more pleasant experience.

Is it worth doing coolsculpting

Coolsculpting treatment is worth considering if you have trouble getting rid of stubborn fats in certain areas of your body even after trying diets or exercises. While coolsculpting does come with a rather hefty price tag, it has long-lasting results, and it is a non-invasive treatment that is safe for most people without specific medical conditions. However, do bear in mind that coolsculpting is not a weight-loss treatment, and it should not be a solution to lose weight.
