There’s no ending to the admiration of the humble hamburger; call it burger if you like. But if you’re always on the lookout for the latest burger invention in Singapore, indeed, disappointment isn’t part of the game. There are countless reasons why the juicy patty and an overflow of sweet sauces keep burger aficionados awake.
Burgers are almost becoming an everyday meal for thousands of Singaporeans. However, only a few burger joints seem to have perfected the burger art. The list down this guide details the top burger bars that have perfected the art of making this hearty sandwich in its many versions.
What is a burger?
The English definition of a hamburger is a sandwich made out of ground beef (other meats will suffice) served on a bun. Burgers are served with a mesh of garnishes and condiments. There’s cheese, ketchup, lettuce, mayonnaise onions and tomatoes in the mix if there’s a dominant element, the burger takes after its name. For instance, if the chilli and cheese are prominent, the burger is likely to be a cheese burger.

“Loved the ambience and the mentaiko dishes. Situated in Bishan – Ang Mo Kio park, it has a very relaxing setting and alfresco dinning. A little understaffed during Saturday’s lunch hour. Cooking takes approximately 20 mins. Accessible from both sides of the main road, although it is more walkable via the nearby car park.” – Joel.L |
Review 2 |
“The food at GRUB has never failed to satisfy my taste buds. Double cheese burger with an additional pineapple always hits the spot for me. Mervyn and his team are always quick to take our orders and is constantly ensuring that we are comfortably seated and hydrated. Today’s visit brought a gang of 7 adults and 9 kids. Not a problem with GRUB’s alfresco seating. We cycled and scooted, played at the water park and refueled at GRUB. Simply Perfect! Thank you GRUB!” – Gerard.S |

Hans Im Gluck |
Speciality |
Rooted in their origins in Orchard Road, German Burgergrill, Hans Im Gluck has added an outlet in Singapore. Hans Im Gluck VivoCity is another such local outlet. Their draw is their enchanting aura and fantastic décor, moods. Containing interiors, walls reflecting the German Black Forest, with furnishing that reminds of beach stools, one could hold some feasts within the “forest” excluding pests, bugs, all in air-conditioned surroundings. Hans Im Gluck Vivo City has expansive space, with this enhancing overall forest concept feel, vibes, tones. The opening for Hans Im Gluck VivoCity resembled some cosy doorway to a cosy log Hut. Upon entering, spatial perception explodes magically. Resembling those Tardis from Dr Who, the interiors of their Hut grow larger, spacious compared to the external décor, vibes. Try their new Birkenwald burger added with more of sweet potato fries, the Original Thirst Quencher or single cappuccino ($17+$5). An order could easily be divided, eaten by two diners. This splits the high costs for the diner and may allow diners to splurge more on extra dessert or shopping at VivoCity next. The Birkenwald burger has mushrooms added on sour cream-scallion seasoning. Customers may take selections over 3 versions of buns. Many choose multigrain option. Their beef patty is rich and tasty. The added toppings, mushrooms, or sour cream sauce seem rather mild for seasoning. Though decent tasting, many would opt for the added seasoned ‘mushroom’ tastes. The lower tier of fresh greens with olives tastes crunchy, adding a zest of spring.

Black Tap |
Speciality |
Black Tap from Marina Bay Sands began from SoHo, New York, with added internationally. They have an 80s, 90s hiphop Run DMC feel, vibe reputed widely for their original burgers, which are listed on Zagat, Time Out, NYCWFF’s Burger Bash, or Dan’s GrillHampton. A cause of the big crows, allure is their incredibly competitive menu pricing not resembling alternative outlets from MBS. For this draw, this brings in customers.Their menu on offers contains just burgers, appetisers, milkshake, salads. Every single burger comes sprinkled with salad, tomato, onions, olives with French Fries. For an added $3, one may replace French Fries for Onion Rings and sugar potato fries and home salad. One may also add more extras for burgers, including some Avocado, $3 or Bacon $3, or perhaps more patties. Many adore the reputed The Greg Norman $27 that contains beef patty, 220g, home buttermilk dip, swiss cheese, or arugula. The menu is extensive, also it holds great selections. Their wagyu patty is juicy and yummy. Their burger taken fully has strong texture, though oddly scented, with accentuation over the herb arugula. Well done. For those not wanting beef burger, you could attempt grass-fed lamb burger, $24.

Three Buns by Potato Head |
Speciality |
Three Buns Quayside in Robertson Quay, Singapore is a new outlet from the chain delivering “gourmet burgers and crafted cocktails”. The original branch from Singapore was found in Potato Head Office at Keong Saik Road. The Robertson Quay stretch has seen more new outlets popping up now with Three Buns Quayside as another. Were you a tourist not familiar with the Quay stretch, The Quayside names the office from the far end stretch of the famous Alkaff Bridge – that magnificent bridge which links the stretch from Havelock Road to the far opposite end. They add have the feature of the extra basement carpark which contains sharp alleys, bends. You could also just take a break from your Toyota, to rent a Mini in place. The Kool Herc on menu features a burger holding a soft, yummy beef patty. Aside from that it could seem rather unadorned, mild. Their Kinky Afro Pancake is an unusual, quirky dish. The pancakes and grilled chicken sausage, with some fried egg turned the flavours strong, hearty. The half-dried tomatoes with onion marmalade made flavours strong. The Seng Dog is a great highlight from the outlet. The beef frankfurter tasted great, tasty with crunch, sass and covering toasted bun fits perfectly. (Kool Herc, $19) (Kinky Afro, $19). Overeasy: ‘To Die For” burger ($22) with their grilled chicken BLAT ($20). The “BLAT” names their bacon, salad, Avacado with Pickles. Bread is crispy, firm. The all-day diner breakfast $24 is your typical breakfast platter containing eggs, sausages, or toast. Cooked sausages taste very potent, baked fully to sharp, baked flavours. Awesome deal for S$26/2-course, S$32/3-course. Food is filling, yummy. Service is fast, great.

“Been wanting to try the burgers here for a long time. If I’m not wrong, reservations ahead are highly advised because the walk in queue is long and usually you’ll be sat outside. I had the “Smoky B Boy” burger today and it is definitely on my top 10 list of burgers in Singapore. |

“Hands down the best cheeseburger I’ve ever tasted and I’ve had a great many burgers! The patty had a delightful smokiness layered upon the rich flavour of the meat while the tartness of the homemade pickles balanced out its saltiness. Tips for Choosing a Healthy Hamburger
The moment you walk into a restaurant that serves the best burgers in Singapore, the chances are that you’ll be spoilt for choice. You want the juiciest burger with alluring toppings and a dazzling flavour. Here’s what you need to know.
- Always check the meat. Go for a burger that is made with lean meat instead of the fatty type. You will end up with a quality sandwich.
- The patty shape should be almost perfect. You need to ensure that it’s not frozen, flat or manhandled.
- Check the crust of the burger. You can opt or rare, medium or well-done versions. The meat should have a crust that tells you it’s adequately seared. If it seems burnt, it means that it has overcooked.
- Go for Fresh toppings. Toppings tell you whether a burger is worth your bite. If the lettuce, onions tomatoes look soggy, it means they may have been sitting for hours. Always ask for fresh toppings. Burgers are about eye appeal, and you can’t have less.
- The seasoning on the burger should be mild. The best burgers allow you to feel the flavours and they shouldn’t be overdone.
Tips for Choosing the Right Burger Bar in Singapore
If you want the best burgers in Singapore, you need to know how to pick the best burger shop. Here’s how:
Online reviews
Check a burger bar’s reviews and testimonials. If you find lots of positive reviews about their sandwiches, they’re your best bet. Testimonials give you a preview of what a given burger shop serves.
Food quality
If a given burger bar sells quality food, it’s a sign that they serve the best burgers as well. You want to buy healthy food and burgers are no exception in this context. Always make sure that they don’t use ingredients that can trigger allergies.
Location
Its simple logic that you don’t need to travel miles to get your favourite burger. The ideal burger bar should be located conveniently. The best location should be within walking distance from your home or office.
