How to Post a Story on Instagram without Breaking a Sweat

According to the most recent report, there are 1.9 million Instagram users in Singapore. This figure is expected to increase in the coming months and years as more people embrace photo sharing as a way of socializing. This is the right time to market your business on this platform before other business start using it.

One of the features of this platform that you can use to boost your social media marketing strategies is Story. Here are 4 simple steps on how to post a Story on Instagram.

Step 1

Click on the icon in the top left corner of your main page. Once you click it, you will be given three options namely:

  1. Take a new photo
  2. Record a video
  3. Upload an image from the gallery
  4. Select a video and upload it from the gallery

If you decide to take a picture, all you need to do is tap on the circle at the bottom of your screen. Hold down the button if you want to take a video. To upload previously taken pictures or recorded videos from the gallery, tap on the small square at the bottom left corner.

Step 2

Select the right format to ensure that the intended message gets to the target audience. There are three format options namely:

  • Rewind
  • Normal
  • Hands-free
  • Boomerang

Normal is pretty straightforward. Boomerang format is similar to the normal GIF. If you choose it, hold the button down for a few seconds to set the video to play back and forth continuously.

The rewind option will play the video in reverse while the hands-free option gives you the luxury to put your phone down for purposes of recording the video. The latter format is an ideal choice when recording a demonstration video.

Step 3

Once your photo or video is ready, it is recommended to add location to help the audience know where you are posting from.

Swipe upwards from the bottom section of the screen to access these features. It is also possible to add other information such as temperature, time, and stickers to stand out from the crowd.

Step 4

A brief description of the video or photo will help the audience to understand it better. To access the keyboard, tap the screen. You can change the font size, angle, and even color to make sure that your photos or videos command attention.

You can also swipe left or right to add filters.

Final Step

Once you are content with the video or image, tap on the “Your Story” button located at the bottom left corner. Since there is a limit on the length of the videos, you can record multiple videos and uploaded them to ensure that the audience does not miss a thing. The videos will be played in the order that they were uploaded.
