Corporate World New Normal
Covid-Smovid, we are determined to have some fun!
MediaOne staff had a blast today when we setoff on a virtual Amazing Race via Zoom.
Tom, the CEO of MediaOne, felt that the Circuit Breaker and social distancing measures were having a negative impact on the morale of the team. It was also evident that the lack of contact amongst team-mates was eroding their sense of community and the sense of bonding that the Agency had fought so hard to build over the years.
So COVID or no COVID, we collectively decided to embark on the team-based virtual Amazing Race organised by our client: TheFunEmpire.
Teams were split into groups of 5 or 6. They had to have cute or gung-ho names with cheers to rationalise their name/spirit before they set off.
Each team had to solve different sets of puzzles based on ancient Egyptian history (actual) and mythology. To say that it was challenging is a huge understatement. Many teams exceeded the 1 hour 50 minute time limit and had to be hauled off by the organisers to the central Zoom meeting room for a debrief.
But suffice to say, it was FUN and it was AWESOME judging by the smiles and jokes all around at the debriefing session. Its all in good fun!
The winning team was Team (yes, don’t laugh): Fineapple consisting of Fion, Marcus, Veronica, Cheryl and Kathryn (of our Philippines office). Team Fineapple walked away with hot piping (looking ultra yummy) pizzas courtesy of pizzadelivery.com.sg for lunch, specially home-delivered.
Congrats you Fineapples!
Arielle said: “This game makes me feel like a hereditary princess that is full of sweet of love.”
XuShuang said: “This game taught me coordinates.”
Marcus said: “Forget out of the box, this game made me think out of this dimension.”
Shi Shiong said: “This game taught me it’s faster to share screen rather than explaining through words.”
Min said: “The game taught me Google Earth.”
Fion said: “The game taught me to look for the biggest hidden white dot for clues!”
Khai said: “This game makes me not like Egypt a lot.” (in jest of course; without the Egyptians the Bangles would never have had their hit single, we rank this achievement higher than the invention of the papyrus paper)
Well, all in all, we all missed each others company albeit virtually. It also went a long way to help us rediscover our own group dynamics and foster a sense of bonding all over again.
Rest assured, this will not be the last time MediaOne will team up again to beat the pandemic that is driving a wedge between all of us.
See you again soon for the next adventure MediaOners!
